
With an extra-inning victory over South Carolina, the LSU Tigers have won the 2012 SEC Baseball Title, concluding the regular season with an overall record of 42-14 and an SEC record of 19-11.
With losses by Florida and Kentucky, LSU won the title outright for the first time since 2003.
Coach Paul Mainieri says his players earned the right to be called champions.
"This team has overcome adversity all season and over-achieved in a lot of ways. I'm extremely proud to be their coach - they're young men great character who represent our university in the right way."
#1 LSU will play the low seed winner of the first two games to be played in the SEC tournament on Wednesday.
